What a Hyderabad fresher can honestly expect to know
If you have just finished a degree in Hyderabad, you are one of many freshers looking for work in the same few neighbourhoods. That is both good and hard. Many companies are nearby, so there are openings to watch, but there are also plenty of other candidates with similar marks.
On pay, the honest position is this. Our Cyber Security programme publishes an indicative ₹3.5L to ₹9L a year for entry-to-mid roles such as SOC Analyst, Security Analyst and Junior Penetration Tester, and our SOC Analyst programme publishes ₹3L to ₹9L a year for SOC roles. These are India-wide, they include mid-level roles, and they vary by company, city and specialisation. We do not have a fresher-in-Hyderabad figure, and we will not invent one.
What Hyderabad does give you is proximity. Interviews, meetups and hiring drives are within reach, so a well-prepared fresher can go to more of them. This page is about using that proximity well.
A three month plan for a Hyderabad fresher
Treat this as a rough schedule, not a rulebook. Adjust it around exams, a job or family commitments.
In the first fortnight, build the lab
Install VirtualBox, Kali Linux and a vulnerable target on your laptop. Save screenshots of every step and note the errors you hit, because those become interview stories.
By the end of month one, finish a first report
Scan your lab with Nmap, score one finding with CVSS and write it up properly. One finished document is worth more than ten tutorials half watched.
In the middle of month two, do a mock interview
Ask a friend, a senior or a trainer to interview you on networking, the Cyber Kill Chain and your report. Record yourself if you can bear it.
Late in month two, tidy your online presence
Make your GitHub page readable, update your LinkedIn headline with the role you are targeting, and make sure your resume links to your reports.
In month three, start applying near home
Look at listings around Madhapur, HITEC City, Gachibowli and the Financial District. Apply in small batches, and use each interview to learn what to improve next.
Keep a log of every answer you fumbled
After each interview write down the questions you struggled with and fix them the same week. Over a few interviews this log becomes your best study material.
Freshers who start from different places in the city
Hyderabad freshers come from many routes. Here is how the same plan changes.
Graduate from a Hyderabad college without a campus offer
You are not behind, but you need to be visible. Use your lab and reports to stand out in off-campus applications and walk-in interviews.
Graduate who moved to the city for work
Rent, travel time and family support shape what you can accept. Compare offers on the full package and think about which team will teach you the most.
Fresher already working in a support role here
Your current job is a bridge. Use tickets, server access and shift discipline in your story, and ask your manager whether a move into security is possible internally.
Fresher preparing while taking a break
A gap is fine if you can explain it. Show a dated trail of lab work, reports and certification study so your time reads as preparation.
Interview topics a Hyderabad fresher should be ready for
These come up in fresher interviews across security roles, and they are all learnable in a lab.
- The OSI model and the TCP three-way handshake, explained without jargon
- A simple Nmap scan, and how to read its output
- How CVSS scores a vulnerability and why scores are not the whole story
- How to look at a suspicious email and decide whether it is phishing
- Linux file permissions and basic Windows commands
- The steps of incident response, from detection to recovery
- The OWASP Top 10 and one hands-on example
- A walk through your best project, start to finish
Support you can use close to home in Madhapur
Our centre is in Madhapur, so much of the programme can be walked into rather than just watched on a screen.
Classroom and lab time in the same area as employers
Learning in Madhapur means you can attend interviews, meetups and drives in the surrounding areas without long commutes.
Modules built around the fresher journey
The six modules and 180 hours of core curriculum take you from networking basics through to security operations, with lab exercises in each.
A portfolio built from real assignments
At least five projects, plus a three-month project-based learning phase, give you a folder of work to show.
An internship that adds dated experience
Two months of internship exposure on penetration testing, SOC operations and cloud security gives you something to speak about at interviews.
Practice interviews and placement assistance
Our team reviews your resume, GitHub page and LinkedIn profile, runs practice interviews, and assists your applications through the hiring-partner network. We can assist, but we cannot promise a job.
Questions worth asking HR at your first Hyderabad interview
A polite question is not rude. It shows you are thinking about the job, and it tells you what the number really means.
- Will this role involve night or rotating shifts, and is transport provided for them?
- Which location will I work from, and is hybrid work possible?
- Is the pay all fixed, or is part of it linked to performance?
- Is there any training bond, notice period or joining clause I should know about?
- How will I be trained in the first few months, and who will mentor me?
- Does the company support certification exams for new joiners?
